JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Saint Peter's Men's Basketball team (16-11, 11-6 MAAC) earned its fifth straight win in a row over Manhattan (6-21, 3-15 MAAC) 89-57 at Run Baby Run Arena on Sunday.
Latrell Reid led the Peacocks with his second career double-double. Reid scored 15 points and distributed a program-record 17 assists, with nine rebounds, and one steal. The Saint Peter's Men's Basketball record for assists in a game was originally held by SPU's current Director of Player Development Keydren Clark. Clark passed for 11 assists in SPU's game against Marist on Jan. 25, 2006. Reid tied the record in SPU's first contest at Manhattan on Jan. 14 and broke the record Sunday. Additionally, Reid scored in double figures for the 20th game this season and leads the Peacocks in assists with 130.
The Peacocks had five players score in double figures. Corey Washington scored a team-high 18 points, with five rebounds, two blocks, and two steals. Marcus Randolph dropped thirteen points. Randolph shot perfect 100% (4-4) from three-point range. This is the fifth straight game Randolph has shot over 50% from downtown. Michael Houge tallied 11 points with nine rebounds and Mouhamed Sow scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds with one block.
Saint Peter's shot 52.2% from the field, 66.7% from three-point range, and put up a season-high 89 points. The Jaspers went 21-58 (36.2%) from the field and 5-22 (22.7%) from three-point range. Manhattan's Shaquil Bender scored a team-high 14 points. Manhattan's Jaden Winston dropped nine points, with five rebounds, and four assists. The Peacocks took the lead early in the first half and never looked back.
With the victory (and loss by Marist), Saint Peter's moved up to third in the MAAC standings behind Fairfield (18-11, 12-6 MAAC), and Quinnipiac (21-8, 13-5 MAAC).

Reid scored or assisted on 17 of SPU's first 21 points in the first half. The New Jersey native finished the first half with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Down 5-0 in the first half, the Peacocks got going with an 8-0 run. Clarke capped the run when he tipped in a basket and the Peacocks led 8-5. After Randolph's second three-pointer of the game, SPU led 11-8. Once the Peacocks took a lead at the 15:13 mark, they never trailed for the remainder of the game.

Manhattan cut the deficit to 21-18 with 8:40 left in the first half. Saint Peter's answered back with an 8-0 run. Reid assisted Washington in the paint for a two-handed dunk. Reid connected with Sow, who scored on a fastbreak layup. Washington added a jump shot in the paint. The Peacocks led 29-18.

Reid scored seven of the next nine points for the Peacocks. The Peacocks point guard drained a perimeter three-pointer and the Jaspers trailed 38-28 with 1:08 left. Armonie Zeigler came up with a steal and scored on a fastbreak, which closed out the half at 43-28.

The Peacocks kept their foot on the gas in the second half. Saint Peter's caught fire from beyond the arc in the second half. The Peacocks shot 7-11 (63.6%) in the second half.

At 13:20, Reid assisted Washington on an alley-oop. Washington's bucket put SPU up by 19.

Brent Bland knocked down back-to-back three-pointers for the Peacocks which extended their lead to 67-42. Randolph added two three-pointers in the second half. Bland's third three-pointer of the game from the corner put Saint Peter's up 77-47.

In the game's final 8:40, Houge scored SPU's last nine out of 12 points. A free throw from Houge stamped the victory at 89-57.
