RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Saint Peter's Softball team picked up a conference win in its doubleheader against Manhattan (7-30, 3-8 MAAC) at Gaelic Park on Saturday.

The Peacocks scored three runs in the top of the first. Jess Forte hit her eighth home run of the season, a three-run homer to left-center field.

The Jaspers scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning and took a 4-3 advantage.

Manhattan tallied 12 hits in the game.

SPU freshman Taylor Montgomery tied the game at 4-4 with an RBI double in the top of the fourth inning.

The Jaspers scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. With two runners on base, Karissa Spring hit an RBI single followed by a three-run home run from Anissa Villalobos, and Manhattan went up 8-7.

Spring recorded the save for Manhattan in the top of the seventh.

Saint Peter's pitcher Kristen Brennan pitched a complete game and picked up her fifth win of the season.

Dakota Pitts went 1-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Cara McNulty went 2-4 with two RBIs.

The Peacock's bats were hot in the top of the third inning. Sydney Orndorff doubled and Maiah Skakal reached second on a fielder's choice. With runners on second and third, McNulty hit a two-RBI double to center field. Jess Forte followed up McNulty's double with a single up the middle and stole second base. A ground out from Pitts scored McNulty from third.

In the top of the fourth inning, Orndorff hit an RBI double and the Peacocks led 4-0.

Pitts smacked her fifth home run of the season, a solo shot over left field for SPU's final run.

A home run from Manhattan's Maddy Weir and an RBI single from Lauren Rende cut the Jaspers' deficit to 5-2 but the Peacocks prevailed for their third conference win of the season.
Saint Peter's and Manhattan will conclude its series with one game tomorrow at noon.
