HAMDEN, CT–The Saint Peter's women's soccer team (4-5-3, 1-4-1) dropped a 5-1 decision to Quinnipiac (4-3-4, 4-0-3) Saturday afternoon.
WHAT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF: Quinnipiac struck early, opening the score in the first fifteen minutes of the match. Milen Branco found Molly Andrews running down the sideline, and once she reached the touchline, she sent a low cross back into the six-yard box, where Corey Anderson placed it deep in the left corner, to put Quinnipiac up 1-0.

Julia Magno Pinho was clipped in the box, earning a penalty.
Joana Dias stepped up and buried the kick into the right corner, leveling the match at 1-1.
In the 41st minute, Quinnipiac regained the lead. They transitioned from their own defensive third off a goalkick where the Bobcat defender sennt the ball down the line to Caroline Matyczyk, who sped down to the touchline, slicing the ball back into the box to Isabella Marie Torelli, who slot it into the right panel, giving the Bobcats a 2-1 advantage heading into halftime.
At the break, Quinnipiac held an 11-3 advantage in shots, including 6-1 on target, and tallied eight corners.
SECOND HALF: Quinnipiac opened the second half on the front foot. In the 58th minute, a long ball slipped through the Peacock defense. Andrews pounced on it, forcing
Bergljot Kristinsdottir into a misplay before tapping it in to extend the lead to 3-1.
One of Saint Peter's best chances came in the 65th minute, when McLean fought off her defender, firing a shot from the edge of the box, forcing the Quinnipiac into a save, off the clearance, McLean fires a shot off just a bit closer, but Gwen Hoyt stood tall, collecting the save.
Quinnipiac then put the match out of reach with two goals just 20 seconds apart. Branco volleyed a ball off a clearance to Klara Bengtsson, who headed it on to Morgan Cupo. Cupo broke free 1v1 from her defender and finished past Kristinsdottir for a 4-1 lead. Seconds later, Branco slipped a pass to Matyczyk on the edge of the box, where she sent a low cross to Evelyn Keay for the Bobcats' fifth goal.
At the final whistle, Quinnipiac led 26-7 in shots, including 12-4 on target, and held a 14-0 advantage in corners. Kristinsdottir registered seven saves while facing a season-high 26 shots.

The Peacocks return to action on Wednesday, October 8, when they travel to Riverdale, NY, to face Manhattan at Gaelic Park. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
