MONTGOMERY, N.Y. – The Saint Peter's cross country teams closed out their fall season on Saturday morning at the 2025 MAAC Cross Country Championships, hosted at Twin Ponds at the Farm. The women ran the 6K and the men followed with the 8K.
On the women's side,
Shirleysa Rivas once again paced the Peacocks, finishing 112th out of 150 runners with a time of 24:32.1. Behind her was
Paulina Nunez (146th, 28:55.2), followed by
Dezoara Diaz (147th, 33:30.6),
Amanda Hyatt (148th, 35:31.9),
Shania McDuffie (149th, 36:58.0), and
Omaria Serrano (150th, 37:04.0).
As a team, Saint Peter's finished 13th with 428 points. Quinnipiac captured the team title with 36 points, followed by Iona (64) and Sacred Heart (106). Fairfield's Hannah Sand repeated as the individual MAAC Champion, clocking 20:04.8 to win back-to-back titles.
On the men's side,Iona swept the top ten spots and claimed the team championship with a perfect score of 15. Siena (67) finished second, followed by Marist (85) in third.
Rookie
Sebastian Lopez led the men's squad with the only top 100 finish out of 175 athletes, placing 53rd overall, crossing the finish line in 26:00.1, a new PR.
Lopez led a men's group that also included
Matthew Martinez (108th, 26:59.9),
Nicholaus Michael (127th, 27:23.4, PR),
Gerardo Quaglia (148th, 28:00.5),
Jack Cabrera (158th, 28:31.3),
Johan Aparicio (167th, 29:07.7),
Christopher Hernandez (170th, 29:31.0), and
Kenneth Montes (173rd, 30:00.1). Saint Peter's finished 12th out of 13 in the team standings with 362 points.
