JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Saint Peter's women's soccer team makes its home debut at Jaroschak Field on Thursday to play Temple for just the third time in program history. The match will take place at 4 p.m. ET.
Over the offseason, Jaroschak Field was resurfaced with new turf while a new irrigation was also installed. The game between Saint Peter's and Temple will be the first time the renovated pitch is put to use.
The Peacocks (0-1-1) are looking for their first win of the year after drawing the season opener against Drexel followed by a two-goal loss to Loyola. Junior forward
Sydney Ragland has scored the only goal for SPU this season, scoring in the 87th minute against Drexel for her first career goal.
Bergljot Kristinsdottir has jumped out to a solid start in net for the Peacocks. In the first two games, she has totaled 11 saves on 33 total shots. She currently holds a .750 save percentage.
ABOUT THE TEMPLE OWLS
The Temple Owls (1-1) split their first two games of the season, one at home and one on the road. They took down another MAAC team in Iona, 3-0, in their season opener before falling to Navy by a score of 0-2 later in the week.
The Owls have had three different players record a goal while two different players have recorded an assist. Shari Atkins owns two of the team's three assists which helped Temple take down Iona.
Temple is coached by Chris Shaw who is in his second season as the head coach of the Owls.
