JERSEY CITY, NJ – Saint Peter's University softball program announced its 2026 schedule on Tuesday, featuring 12 non-conference matchups and 10 MAAC series as the Peacocks continue to build momentum entering head coach
Alyssa Ruiz's second season.
"In my first year, it was important to build a foundation of trust with the team and help them reconnect with the passion they have for the game." head coach Ruiz stated, "As I move into my second season as the head, I want to see us compete with consistency, confidence, and execute to the level I know we're capable of. We have a talented group of players who are ready to make an impact in the MAAC."
Saint Peter's opens the season with back-to-back road series, beginning Sunday, February 22 at Central Connecticut State University, followed by a trip to Norfolk State University on Saturday, February 28 and Sunday, March 1. The Peacocks will play a doubleheader at the CCSU Softball Field before heading south to compete in a three game series at the NSU Softball Field in Norfolk, Virginia.
"We are a young and dynamic team, with 11 newcomers and 11 strong returners. I'm excited to see our players step into big roles and make an immediate impact this year. The foundation that we created this fall is strong, and I'm looking forward to seeing that work translate onto the field and define who Saint Peter's Softball is and what we are becoming," coach Ruiz added.
The Peacocks concluded the 2025 season with a 13-35 overall record, including a 4-22 mark in MAAC play. Conference action begins Saturday, March 7, when Saint Peter's hosts Quinnipiac University at Jaroschak Field.
The 2026 MAAC Softball Championship will feature a six-team, double-elimination format and will take place May 6–9. The championship will be hosted by the league's highest remaining seed.
