Yeager Sweeps MAAC Track and Rookie of the Week Honors

EDISON, NJ – After another standout performance at the Metropolitan Championships this past weekend, freshman Brian Yeager was named MAAC Track Athlete and Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

The honors mark the second and third MAAC weekly awards of the season for Yeager, while giving the men's track and field program its fourth weekly accolade this year. Yeager's three weekly honors are the most by any Saint Peter's track and field athlete in a single season.

The Delaware native continued his dominance in the 800m, capturing the Peacocks' lone gold medal at the Metropolitan Championships as the only runner in the field to dip under 1:54. Yeager stopped the clock at 1:53.95, shaving nearly two seconds off his personal best and the team's season-best mark. The time ranks third all-time in Saint Peter's program history.

Yeager has now finished in the top three in every 800m race this season, earning his second victory in the event.

He also anchored the men's 4x400 relay to a silver medal, helping the quartet post a time of 3:16.71, the fourth-fastest mark in program history.

UP NEXT
Yeager and the rest of the Peacocks will next compete at the ECAC/IC4A Championships, hosted by Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center, February 6-8.
