Cashieve Blair Smashes Two School Records, Leads Peacocks at Rutgers Relays

PISCATAWAY, NJ– The Saint Peter's track and field programs competed at the Rutgers Relays at the Bauer Track and Field Complex on Saturday. The Peacocks combined for five podium finishes, with Cashieve Blair pacing both programs with a pair of gold medals and two broken school records. Saint Peter's also swept the men's and women's 4x200m relays.

The men's team cracked the top 10, placing ninth out of 23 teams with 36 points, while the women finished 12th out of 21 teams with 18 points. Rutgers swept the meet, with the men scoring 129 points and the women totaling 178 points.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
The men's 4x100m relay quartet of Ameen Zubair, Niles Thony, Desrick Hemans, and Malique Jackson earned the first podium finish of the day for the Peacocks, sprinting to a bronze finish in a season-best time of 42.10. Lafayette claimed first in 41.16, followed by Wagner (41.98).

The 4x200m relay team of Zubair, Favour Owolabi, Thony, and Jackson earned the first gold of the day, finishing nearly three seconds ahead of second place and 10 seconds ahead of the field with a time of 1:28.18.

Cashieve Blair earned his first gold and broke his first school record of the day in the 400m, snapping a 45-year-old record and becoming the first Peacock in program history to dip under 47 seconds with a time of 46.81. Blair finished over a second ahead of the field, landing at #97 on AthleticNET's 2026 Division I Top 100 list.

Blair continued his momentum in the 200m, sprinting to his second gold and second school record of the day, becoming the first Peacock in program history to run a sub-21 time (20.74). He finished nearly half a second ahead of Wagner's Noah Grant (21.09) and Rutgers' Andrew Boakye (21.28), ranking #25 on AthleticNET's 2026 Division I Top 100 list.

Connor Ziolkowski finished 10th overall out of 31 athletes in the 400m hurdles, clocking in at 55.84. Lehigh's Nick Bressi placed first (54.47), followed by Villanova's Liam Gluck (54.69) and Ramapo's Matthew Suero (54.83).

The 4x400m relay team of Owolabi, Brian Yeager, Ajani Peck-Wekunda, and Jackson finished 10th with a time of 3:32.26. LIU claimed first (3:20.63), followed by NJIT (3:20.96) and Lafayette (3:21.22).

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
The 4x100m relay squad of Samyah Wilson, Shanelle Vilson, Ana Devries, and Karilynn Jimenez sprinted to a fifth-place finish, clocking a season-best time of 49.39. La Salle finished first in 47.34, followed by Columbia (47.53) and Wagner (48.58).

The 4x200m relay quartet of Mercedes Cruz-Fletcher, Jimenez, Dezoara Diaz, and Adriana Rollins raced to gold, finishing over six seconds ahead of the field with a time of 1:45.13.

Cruz-Fletcher earned a top-10 finish in the 100m hurdles, placing seventh out of 23 athletes with a time of 14.75. Rutgers' Llyric Driscoll claimed first in a season-best 13.62—the only sub-14 time—ranking No. 67 on AthleticNET's 2026 Division I Top 100 list.

Lourdes Lawson paced the field team with a seventh-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 12.58m. Unattached athlete Maria Deaviz claimed first with the only throw over 50 feet (16.60m / 54'5.50").

The Peacocks will return to the Bauer Track and Field Complex in Piscataway, NJ, for the Outdoor ECAC/IC4A Championships, April 18-19.
