Peacocks Look For Spark Against Lehigh Before Clash With Niagara

JERSEY CITY, N.J.- The Peacocks look to gain some momentum heading into their mid-week match-up against non-conference opponent Lehigh, where they will face off at Jaroshak field on Tuesday April, 22nd at  3 p.m.

After their game against Lehigh, Saint Peter's continues to look to grab their first MAAC victory as they face off against Niagara for a three-game series starting Friday, April 24th at 3 p.m.

ABOUT LEHIGH

The last time these teams met was on March 11th, when the Peacocks ran riot offensively in their 12-3 victory over Lehigh.

The game started off slow for both teams in the first inning, with the Peacocks and Hawks struggling at bat till the second inning, where Saint Peter's would add two runs to open the scoreboard.

This was then followed by three more runs from the Peacocks and one from Lehigh. After the second inning, it was an offensive showing for SPU as they piled on seven more runs between the fourth and ninth innings while holding Lehigh to three runs the entire game.

Saint Peter's looks to do much of the same as they head into this mid-week clash with the Mountain Hawks.

ABOUT NIAGARA

After their home stand against Lehigh, the Peacocks welcome Niagara to Jersey City, where they will face off in a three-game series starting on Friday.

Niagara holds a 27-4 win advantage over the Peacocks with their last meeting in March of last year ending in a 4-14 defeat for SPU as they struggled at the plate early on with only three runs scored between the second and fourth inning.

The Peacocks look to change the script and grab their first victory from the Eagles since April of 2021 which ended as a 5-0 win for Saint Peter's.

Saint Peter's looks to lean on the likes of Steve Polizzi, who had a stellar weekend where he added his fifth consecutive home run in game one of their double header against Iona last Saturday.

The Peacocks will need to go all gas and no brake as they head into the second half of the season, trying to grab their first MAAC conference win.
