Peacocks Continue Road Stretch with Army, Iona on Deck

WEST POINT, NY– The Saint Peter's softball team (7-33, 3-19 MAAC) gears up for a pair of road matchups, first traveling to West Point, NY, to face Army in a midweek non-conference doubleheader on April 22, before heading to New Rochelle, NY, for a three-game weekend MAAC series against Iona.

Wednesday's matchup will be played at the Army Softball Complex, with game one beginning at 3 p.m., followed by game two at 5 p.m.

Saturday's contest will take place at the Donald E. Walsh Field at Rice Oval, with game one starting at 12 p.m. and game two at 2 p.m. The series concludes Sunday at noon.

Both matchups will be streamed on ESPN+.


LAST TIME OUT 
The Peacocks finished the week 1-6, dropping a doubleheader against Wagner and a three-game conference series to Niagara. Saint Peter's split with Lafayette, taking game one before falling in the nightcap.

Against Wagner, Lauren Czerwinski paced the offense with a perfect 2-for-2 performance, launching her first collegiate home run. In the nightcap, Danni Forrester smashed her third home run of the season, while Paige Seemon recorded her team-high seventh double of the year.

At Lafayette, Saint Peter's erased a five-run deficit with a seven-run seventh inning in the opener. Carlee Charles paced the Peacocks with a perfect 4-for-4 day—the first by a Peacock this season–launching her second home run of the year while adding four RBIs.

Against Niagara, Saint Peter's totaled 19 hits over the weekend. Angelina Wagner and Angela Tremarco each went 2-for-3, with Wagner leading the offense in game one and Tremarco in game two. Charles added her second home run of the week and third of the season.

In the final game, Seemon led the Peacocks with a 3-for-4 performance and a pair of RBIs.


ABOUT THE PEACOCKS
After snapping a three-game skid with a 10-8 victory over Lafayette, Saint Peter's dropped its next four matchups.

The Peacocks have three players batting above .300, with Paige Seemon pacing the team with a .348 average, .820 OPS, 21 runs, 40 hits, eight extra-base hits, and nine RBIs. Seemon is currently riding a nine-game hitting streak.

Carlee Charles leads the team with 27 RBIs, nearly doubling any other player on the roster, ranking ninth in the conference.

In the circle, Morgan Lipansky continues to lead the pitching staff, holding the only ERA under 5.00 on the team at 4.96 with a 1.58 WHIP. She ranks fourth in the conference in strikeouts (79) and fifth in strikeouts looking (16).


ABOUT THE BLACK KNIGHTS
Army (25-22, 7-5 Patriot League) is 11-4 in April, including a 4-4 mark in conference play. The Black Knights rode an eight-game win streak during the month, sweeping series against Seton Hall, Lehigh, and Iona before dropping the final two games of a series against Boston University.

Army has five players batting above .300, led by Hannah Laub, who is hitting .403 with a 1.180 OPS. Through 36 games, she has recorded 31 hits, 21 runs scored, 11 extra-base hits, and 23 RBIs.

In the circle, Amanda Eaglin is 10-8 through 21 appearances and 20 starts with a 2.50 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP across 103.2 innings pitched while tallying 68 strikeouts and holding opponents to a .201 average.

Head coach Jen Consaul is in her third season at the helm.

ABOUT THE GAELS
Iona (17-20, 12-8 MAAC) is 7-4 in April, with six of those wins coming in conference play. The Gaels took one game from Marist and swept both Canisius and Niagara, riding a five-game win streak before falling to Army.

Iona will travel to Sacred Heart and St. John's for midweek matchups before hosting Saint Peter's.

The Gaels have five players batting above .300, with Brianna Fischer leading the offense at .342 with a .996 OPS. Through 37 games, she has recorded 39 hits, 19 runs scored, 16 extra-base hits, and 23 RBIs.

In the circle, Melissa Gordon is 9-5 through 20 appearances and 11 starts with a 1.99 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP. Across 84.1 innings pitched, she has recorded 24 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .251 average.

Leading the Gaels in his first season is Andy Russo.

ALL TIME SERIES
Saint Peter's is 1-15 all-time against Army. The Peacocks split the last doubleheader with Army in 2019, taking game one on a walk-off solo home run before falling 7-0 in game two.

Saint Peter's is 15-36 all-time against Iona. The Gaels have won the last two meetings by a combined score of 11-0. The Peacocks' last win in the series came in 2024, a 17-4 victory.

AROUND THE MAAC
Marist leads the MAAC standings with an 18-3 conference record and enters the week on a four-game win streak. Fairfield sits second at 13-5, followed by Siena at 13-6. Iona (12-8) is fourth, while Quinnipiac (13-9) is fifth, with both teams looking to snap recent losing streaks. Rider rounds out the top six at 12-9 and has won its last two contests.
