Softball Closes Regular Season with Six-Game Final Stretch

BROOKLYN, NY– The Saint Peter's softball team (7-38, 3-22 MAAC) gears up for its final week of action, playing six games across three series.

The Peacocks begin their road stretch with a single-game matchup against LIU on Tuesday, April 28, followed by their final non-conference doubleheader at FDU on Wednesday, April 29. Saint Peter's closes the week by hosting MAAC opponent Fairfield for a three-game series May 1-2.

Tuesday's matchup will be played at the LIU Softball Complex in Brooklyn, NY, beginning at 3 p.m. Wednesday's contest will take place at the FDU Softball Field in Teaneck, with game one starting at 5 p.m. and game two at 7 p.m.

Both contests will be streamed on NEC Front Row.

Friday's MAAC twin bill starts at 12 p.m., followed by game two at 2 p.m. The series concludes Saturday at noon. Friday's doubleheader will also serve as softball's second annual Morgan's Message Game.

All three games will be streamed on Peacock Digital Network.

LAST TIME OUT
Saint Peter's put up a hard fight but ultimately fell to Army in a midweek doubleheader. Lauren Czerwinski and Hannah Klotz paced the offense, each going 2-for-3, with Czerwinski doing so in game one and Klotz in the nightcap.

Gabriella Rivera and Ava White provided strong relief in the circle during the matchups, not allowing a run through 3.2 innings of work while surrendering just four hits combined.

In their final road MAAC contest, the Peacocks fell to Iona by a combined score of 15-4, totaling 13 hits on the weekend.

In game one, Danni Forrester smashed a team-high fourth home run of the season. In the nightcap, Olivia Christopher led the offense with a 2-for-3 performance. The series finale saw Angela Tremarco pace the Peacocks with a 2-for-3 effort, adding an RBI to her line.

ABOUT THE PEACOCKS
Saint Peter's is trying to snap a nine-game skid in its final week of play.

The Peacocks have two players batting above .300, with Paige Seemon pacing the team with a .331 average, .773 OPS, 22 runs scored, 43 hits, eight extra-base hits, and 10 RBIs. Seemon currently ranks 23rd in the conference in batting average.

Carlee Charles has the best OPS on the team and is the only Peacock above .800 at .827. She also leads the team in slugging percentage (.441), on-base percentage (.386), walks (17), and RBIs (28).

In the circle, Morgan Lipansky continues to lead the pitching staff with a team-best 5.42 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP. She ranks fourth in the conference in strikeouts (83) and ninth in strikeouts looking (17).

ABOUT THE SHARKS
LIU (19-30, 18-3 NEC) is 9-6 in April, with all nine wins coming in conference play.

The Sharks took all three games against New Haven and Saint Francis, two games from Wagner, and one from CCSU, while falling to Iona, Rutgers, and Fordham, and dropping the series 1-2 to the Blue Devils.

LIU has three players batting above .300, with Lily Hinkle leading the offense at .368 with a .951 OPS. Through 49 games, she has recorded 57 hits, 38 runs scored, 13 extra-base hits, and 18 RBIs.

In the circle, Sarah Wall is 6-19 through 41 appearances and 37 starts with a 5.01 ERA and a 1.78 WHIP across 141.0 innings pitched while tallying 80 strikeouts and holding opponents to a .288 average.

Leading the Sharks in his first season is head coach Rich Calvert.

ABOUT THE KNIGHTS
FDU (15-31, 8-12 NEC) is 8-10 in April, with all but four matchups coming in conference play.

The Knights split the doubleheader with Wagner, dropped series 1-2 to both Le Moyne and New Haven, but bounced back with a 2-1 series victory over Mercyhurst and earned their first conference sweep against Saint Francis.

FDU has four players batting above .300, with Madison Rishel leading the offense at .351 with a .800 OPS. Through 40 games, she has recorded 40 hits, 29 runs scored, two extra-base hits, and 12 RBIs.

In the circle, Jamie Sencion is 9-8 through 19 appearances and 17 starts with a 3.51 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP across 92.1 innings pitched while tallying 71 strikeouts and holding opponents to a .243 average.

Leading the Knights in his sixth season is head coach Chris Foye.


ABOUT THE STAGS
Fairfield (24-22, 16-7 MAAC) is 13-5 in April, having put together multiple win streaks during the month.

The Stags have swept every MAAC series except two, defeating Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart, and Manhattan, taking the three-game series from Siena 2-1, before falling 1-2 to Rider.

The Stags have six players batting above .300, with Ava Armuth leading the offense, batting .315 with a .909 OPS. Through 46 games, she has recorded 35 hits, 39 runs scored, 12 extra-base hits, and 16 RBIs.

Armuth is sixth in MAAC play in on-base percentage (.449), fourth in runs scored, and third in both walks (28) and stolen bases (17).

In the circle, Alyssa Weinberg is 14-10 through 30 appearances and 23 starts with a 2.64 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP across 143.1 innings pitched while tallying 171 strikeouts and holding opponents to a .215 average.

Weinberg currently ranks fourth in ERA, third in opposing batting average, second in innings pitched, first in strikeouts, third in strikeouts looking (23), and tied for first in wins in the conference.

Leading the Stags in her 29th season is head coach Julie Brzezinski.

ALL TIME SERIES
Saint Peter's is 0-3 all-time against LIU. The Peacocks are still in search of their first win over the Sharks, with LIU taking down Saint Peter's in a doubleheader by a combined score of 9-0 in 2024 and 7-0 in 2019.

Saint Peter's is 4-25 all-time against FDU, with this being their second meeting this season. In March, the Peacocks dropped the home contest to the Knights by a combined score of 23-3.

In the doubleheader, Hannah Klotz paced the offense with a 4-for-5 day, while Kiana Kadena Matsuda and Paige Seemon each added a pair of hits in the nightcap.

Saint Peter's is 29-44 all-time against Fairfield. The Peacocks won the series 2-1 last season, earning their first MAAC series victory of the year, defeating the Stags 5-4 and 3-0.

In the victories, Hannah Klotz tied the game at 3-3 with an RBI single, while Steph Bendzlowicz put the Peacocks in the lead with a double. Olivia Christopher scored the go-ahead run in the seventh to seal the win for Saint Peter's.

In the final game of the series, Ava White carried the Peacocks' defense with seven scoreless innings and two strikeouts, while Christopher led the offense with a 2-for-4 performance.


AROUND THE MAAC
Marist currently sits in first place with a 21-3 conference record and enters the week riding an eight-game win streak. The Red Foxes are also the only team to clinch a postseason berth.

Fairfield is second at 16-7 in MAAC play. Siena (15-9) and Quinnipiac (15-10) sit in third and fourth, followed by Rider at 14-10 and Sacred Heart (14-10) to round out the top six.
