JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Saint Peter's women's soccer head coach
Sammy Adjei has announced the addition of
Joshua Merchan as an assistant coach ahead of the 2026 season.
Merchan comes to Jersey City after spending the previous two seasons in the same role under Adjei at Caldwell University. During his tenure, he helped guide the Cougars to back-to-back appearances in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship match while also helping produce the 2024 CACC Player of the Year, the 2025 CACC Goalkeeper of the Year, multiple All-CACC and D2CCA All-East Region selections and 10 CACC Women's Soccer All-Academic Team honorees in 2024.
At Caldwell, Merchan assisted with all aspects of the program, including training sessions, opponent scouting, film analysis, recruiting, player development and match preparation.
Prior to his time at Caldwell, Merchan served as an assistant coach for the Bloomfield College men's soccer program from 2021-24. He was responsible for planning and executing training sessions, recruiting prospective student-athletes, analyzing opponents and assisting with player development. In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Merchan has coached with STA Soccer Academy since 2022, working with youth players to develop their technical skills, tactical awareness and overall understanding of the game.
A native of Bloomfield, N.J., Merchan earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in sports management from FDU.
