WEST HAVEN C.T.- The Saint Peter's women's soccer was unable to hold its lead over the New Haven Chargers this evening. 

The Peacocks had the advantage with a 1-0 lead in the final nine minutes of play. The Chargers ended up netting two goals in five minutes to win the game 2-1.  

Saint Peter's was outshot 7-21, but Sophomore goalkeeper Bergljot Kristinsdottir made four saves throughout the game.

WHAT HAPPENED:
FIRST HALF:

The Chargers had the first shot of the game that led to a corner kick for them. Junior defender Ayla Fraser answered back with a shot of her own in the 8th minute of play. 

The Peacocks had a corner kick opportunity in the 24th minute. The ball ultimately ended up on sophomore forward, Mayla McLean's feet. McLean fired a shot that went just wide. 

The Peacocks and Chargers each shared shot and corner kick opportunities in the first half. The Chargers out shot the Peacocks 7-2 in the first half and led 4-3 with corners. 

The game was leveled 0-0 at the half, with both teams hoping to find the back of the net.

SECOND HALF:

New Haven opened the second half with a shot on goal, but sophomore goalkeeper, Bergljot Kristinsdottir dove to the bottom right of the goal to make the stop. 

The Peacocks opened scoring in the 49th minute when senior midfielder Julia Pinho Magno found McLean about 25 yards out from the New Haven goal. McLean fired a screamer outside the 18-yard box and the ball fell top right in back of the goal. 

Kristinsdottir made another save just a minute after the Saint Peter's goal to help keep the Peacocks lead. Sophomore midfielder Mira Itzin had two shot attempts from the 55th to 59th minute. 

Saint Peter's had more shot opportunities to increase its lead. Sophomore forward, Azsa Leighton and Ayla Fraser each had an opportunity. 

The Chargers fired a shot on goal in the 80th minute, however, Kristinsdottir secured the stop. New Haven answered back with Grace Simpson's shot which led to a goal for the Chargers. New Haven came back again with Simpson's second goal of the night after a messy mix up in the Peacocks box. 

Kristinsdottir registered five saves in the second half.
