NORTH ANDOVER M.A.- The Saint Peter's women's soccer team battled to the end in a 0-0 goalless draw at Merrimack Saturday afternoon.
The Peacocks were quiet in the first half of the game, with Merrimack dominating the opening 45 minutes of play. Saint Peter's started the second half with much more ammunition and even had a goal that was disallowed.
WHAT HAPPENED:
FIRST HALF:
The Warriors opened up shooting in the 3rd minute of play when they fired a shot that ricocheted off the cross bar. Sophomore goalkeeper
Bergljot Kristinsdottir registered her first save of the game in the 9th minute of play. Kristinsdottir made another save in the 13th minute.
The Peacocks had their first opportunity of the game in the 34th minute when junior defender
Ayla Fraser headed the ball toward the Merrimack goal from a corner kick that was distributed by senior midfielder
Julia Pinho Magno.
At the half the Warriors led 15-4 in shots and 4-1 on corners. Kristinsdottir recorded three saves compared to Merrimack's two.
SECOND HALF:
Saint Peters started the second half hungrier compared to the first. The Peacocks were playing with more of an attacking presence than in the first half.
The Peacocks thought they opened the scoring in the 55th minute of play after senior midfielder
Julia Pinho Magno shot the ball in the bottom left corner of Marrimack's goal. After review, the referee ruled the play as no goal due to a foul committed in the box by Pinho Magno.
After the goal was called off, Saint Peter's was still searching for its first Metro Conference goal of 2026. Pinho Magno fired a shot in the 56th minute, but the Merrimack keeper was able to get the stop.
Sophomore midfielder
Mira Itzin registered her first shot of the game in the 59th minute, but the ball went wide of the goal.
The Peacocks came close to scoring in the 64th minute when Pinho Magno launched a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box. The ball hit the cross bar and deflected onto the feet of senior forward
Sydney Ragland, however, Merrimack goalkeeper Addison Israel was able to get the stop.
Daniela Almedia of Merrimack was issued a yellow card in the 81st minute. The Peacocks outshot the Warriors 14-10 in the second half. Corner kick attempts were leveled at 3.
Kristinsdottir recorded her first clean sheet of the 2026 season.
