EDISON, NJ – Saint Peter's men's golfer,
David Powers, has been named as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Golfer of the Month for his play during the month of October.
The junior put together the best overall month for the Peacocks, leading Saint Peter's to two out of three team championships in October. In all three tournaments during the month, Powers never finished worse than second best on the Peacocks lineup and he placed top-five overall in two of the three tournaments.
To begin the month, Powers and Saint Peter's competed in the UConn Invitational where he finished second on the team at the event. At the Hawk Invitational on October 23, Powers shot a one under par, putting him in a tie for third place in the team's number four spot, helping Saint Peter's claim a share of the team title with host Monmouth. To close out the month in the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championship from October 28-29, he led the team with a card of 70-73=143 (+3), for a second-place tournament finish, leading to Saint Peter's second straight team crown. At the Metropolitan Intercollegiate, Saint Peter's took the top spot in a field of 15 teams that included six MAAC members.
