The Saint Peter's men's basketball team entered the 2018 MAAC Basketball Championship as the No. 9 seed. In the first round, the Peacocks defeated No. 8 Monmouth in a thrilling 60-58 last second victory (Recap). In the quarterfinals round, the Peacocks made history by knocking off No. 1 Rider, 66-55 (Recap). The Peacocks became the first No. 9 seed in MAAC history to reach the semifinal round and the first ever No. 9 seed to knock off a No. 1 seed in the MAAC tournament. The win put the Peacocks into the semifinals for the second straight season and for the third time in the past four years. In the semifinals round, the Peacocks fell to eventual champion, Iona 65-62 (Recap).
Graduate guard, Nick Griffin, was named to the 2018 MAAC All-Championship team for his play during the tournament. Griffin became the first Peacock named to the team since 2011 (full release).
The Peacocks season ended with a 14-18 overall record, closing the season as winners in four out of their last five games.
