JERSEY CITY, NJ – On Saturday, October 20, the Saint Peter's University women's soccer team will be hosting their first annual Peacock Youth Soccer Day for local youth soccer programs in the Jersey City area.
The Peacocks will be playing a home, intraconference game against Iona at 12 p.m. at Joseph J. Jaroschak Field. The team encourages all local youth soccer academies to attend with their coaches and parents. Admission is free. The program who brings the most players will receive a free clinic put on by the Saint Peter's women's soccer team. The date of the clinic will be determined with the winning team for a later date.
"We're excited for the opportunity to welcome youth soccer programs from around Jersey City to our game against Iona," said head coach
Melissa Sherwood. "Our girls take pride in being role models in the community, and view this as a chance to show these young players that with hard work, you can achieve your dream of playing collegiate soccer."
After the game, all youth players in attendance will get the chance to participate in a meet and greet with the players, where they will be able to take pictures with the players and get autographs from all of the Saint Peter's women's soccer players.
