EDISON, NJ - Freshman midfielder
Omar Seghiri has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Soccer Co-Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office today.
Seghiri continued an impressive rookie season with the Peacocks, netting the golden goal against Fairfield on Saturday, October 5. The London native scored the game-winner in overtime against the Stags on Saturday, putting the Peacocks over with a 4-3 victory. The goal came in the 94th minute after junior forward
Dominic Laws chased down a loose ball down the left side of the field and fired a cross past the Fairfield goalkeeper to Seghiri, who buried the ball into the back of the net.
Seghiri is joined by Siena's Alejandro Riquelme, Rider's Slyvain Coco, and Manhattan's Hunter Kochiss, who won Offensive Player, Defensive Player, and Co-Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Seghiri and the Peacocks return to the pitch against hOURglass rival Rider on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 3 p.m.
