EDISON, NJ - After a career game against LIU on Sunday afternoon, men's basketball freshman forward,
Hassan Drame has been named by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) as the Pepsi Zero Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office today.
Drame played his best game as a Peacock in Sunday's 69-58 road win over LIU in the Barclays Center. The Bamako, Mali native posted his first career double-double with career-highs of 13 points and 17 rebounds. Drame became only the fifth MAAC player this season to record at least 17 rebounds in a game and the mark was the most in a road contest by a Peacock player since 2013. Additionally, Drame posted career-highs of five offensive rebounds, 12 defensive rebounds, three steals and two blocks in the win.
For the week, Drame averaged 9.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.0 assists, and 1.0 blocks in just 23 minutes of action per game.
Drame is joined by Siena's Elijah Burns, who was named as the Player of the Week.
Drame and the Peacocks are back in action following Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 28, when they head to Virginia for a contest against Hampton.
