Jeffrey Peters Heading to Austin, Texas for the 2019 NCAA Men’s Golf Regional

Peters is the second Peacock to compete in the NCAA Regional as an individual

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Sophomore Jeffrey Peters is heading to Austin, Texas for the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Regional, announced tonight on the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship selection show live on the Golf Channel. The Austin Regional will be held at the University of Texas Golf Club, in Austin, Texas and will be hosted by the University of Texas.

Peters won the 2019 MAAC Men's Golf Individual Championship to secure a spot in the NCAA Regional field and become just the third player in program history to win the title. Peters took the lead over the individual field in the second round and finished the tournament with a final card of 69-74-72=215 (-1) en route to the 2019 individual crown and McLeod Trophy for the Most Outstanding Golfer (MVP). He was also the only golfer in the field to finish the three-round tournament under par. Peters' combined two-round total of 143 was the fifth-best total in Peacock history at MAACs and his final card of 215 was the second-best ever final card for a Peacock at the championship, just three strokes behind the all-time low of 212 done by head coach Nick Dilio in 2016. Additionally, he earned All-MAAC honors and helped guide Saint Peter's to a runner-up finish at the championship.

"I think Jeff is very excited about going to Austin, Texas," said men's golf head coach Nick Dilio. "The first year I started coaching we won MAACs and were sent to the same site, so hopefully I can help Jeff out considering I've seen the course a few times."

81 teams and 45 individuals were selected to compete at one of six regional championship sites during the selection show. The regional will be a 54-hole tournament conducted May 13-15. Thirteen teams and ten individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.

NCAA team and individual medalist titles will be decided May 24-29 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
