Fousseyni Drame has been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week, as unveiled Monday afternoon from the league office.
Drame posted a team-high 31 points over the first two games of his sophomore campaign, helping the Peacocks go 1-1 on the week, including an impressive win against La Salle on Friday. The Mali native played a key part in Friday's win over the Explorers, as he led the team with 19 points, eight made baskets and three steals, all of which either tied or set career highs; his eight rebounds were two shy of his personal best.
For the week, Drame averaged a team-leading 15.5 ppg and hauled down 13 boards (6.5 rpg) while adding a team-high four steals and a block. The MAAC Player of the Week honor is the first of his career after being named the league's Rookie of the Week three times last winter.
Saint Peter's returns to action Tuesday night when they host Stony Brook for a 6 p.m. tilt.
