WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Saint Peter's University men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Monmouth Collegiate Indoor Invitational over the weekend. It was the team's final regular season meet of the indoor season and the team competed against schools throughout the conference and region, such as Maryland-Eastern Shore, Lehigh, Lafayette and NYU. Several Peacocks finished their regular season on a high note to garner plenty of momentum heading into the league championships next weekend.
Top Performances: Men
- Freshman Jabari Higgs-Salaam was victorious in the long jump event as he set a personal record by jumping for 6.89 meters. As of the conclusion of the meet, that's the sixth best mark in the MAAC.
- Freshmen Kyle Estivene, Jamir Shockley, David Szaro and sophomore Daniel Jn-Baptiste, were the runner-up in the 4x400 meter relay. The quartet clocked in at 3:35.65.
- Shockley also came in the top-five in the 400 meters with a time of 52.14 seconds.
- Jn-Baptiste placed in the top-10 in the 60 meters as he clocked in at 7.20.
- Freshman Clardo Nestor was a top-five finisher in the 800 meters and was also among the five runners to finish in under two minutes at 1:59.42. Of the four times he's competed in the event this season, he's finished under two minutes three times.
- Senior Joshua Okaro attained a top-10 placement in the 60 hurdles as he finished in 9.15 seconds.
- Freshman Dylan Powell came in the top-15 in the weight throw competition by throwing for 13.43 meters.
Top Performances: Women
- Senior Avosuahi Albert was the winner of the 500 meters with a personal best time of 1:19.01. The time is eighth best in the MAAC as of the conclusion of the meet.
- In a close finish, freshman Vernetta Gosier attained a top-five spot in the 60-meter dash as she crossed the line in 8.01 seconds. Not far behind her was senior teammate Ohunene Albert who finished in 8.11 seconds.
- Freshman Alexis Peterson, senior Victoria St. John and freshman Loretta Owoh were also in the 60-meter dash and all came in the top-15. Peterson clocked in at 8.19 seconds, St. John at 8.30 and Owoh at 8.32.
- In a field of over 40 competitors, freshman Deja Bowen took a top-10 placement in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.94 seconds.
- Freshman Janai Orders set a new personal best for herself in the 400 meters as she crossed in 1:04.48. Junior teammate Lovely Francois also set a PR for herself in this race as she completed in 1:08.15.
- Senior Rachael Johnson was a top-five finisher in the shot put event by throwing for 12.73 meters.
- Freshman Xiomari Battle finished in the top-20 in the weight throw event. She threw for 11.50 meters, her best result in the event during the regular season.

The teams will once return to the New York Armory next weekend, this time for the 2019-20 MAAC Indoor Championships starting next Saturday (Feb. 22) and concluding the following day.
