JERSEY CITY, N.J. (Jan. 21, 2021) - The Saint Peter's University men's basketball home contest scheduled for Friday, Feb. 4 against Quinnipiac has been elevated to be showcased on national television on ESPNU at 7:00 p.m. inside Run Baby Run Arena.
The contest was selected as one of the top games in the MAAC this season and will feature two of the top four teams in the MAAC standings.
The MAAC Wildcard Game format allows ESPN to pick any game scheduled for that specific date to air on ESPNU and allows the MAAC and ESPN the flexibility to showcase the best matchups as the season progresses. Future MAAC wildcard matchups will be announced at later dates.
It will be the first time the Peacocks will be featured on ESPNU in the newly renovated Run Baby Run Arena and the first home game for SPU on the network since Jan. 21, 2011 when the Peacocks defeated Siena 77-69. SPU would go on to win the 2010-11 MAAC Tournament Title and advance to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history.
The Peacocks knocked off the Bobcats earlier this season 69-59 on the road in Hamden, Ct. for their first MAAC win of the season. Prior to this matchup, SPU has road contests at Niagara, Canisius, Marist and Iona as well as a home matchup with Manhattan.
The 2021-22 campaign culminates with the 2022 Hercules Tires MAAC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships from March 8-12 at Atlantic City's Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall.
