JERSEY CITY, NJ - Saint Peter's University and the men's basketball team will be hosting a special banner and ring ceremony commemorating last year's MAAC Championship and Elite 8 appearance before the home opener on Monday, November 7th.
Saint Peter's won the MAAC Tournament for the fourth time in program history and first since 2011 last season, taking down Fairfield, Quinnipiac, and Monmouth en route to the title and an NCAA Championship berth.
The Peacocks then won over the heart of the nation by upsetting two seeded Kentucky as a fifteen seed in the first round of the NCAA Tournament 85-79 in overtime. The Peacocks then proceeded to take down seventh seeded Murray State and third seeded Purdue to become the first ever fifteen seed in NCAA Tournament history to advance to the Elite Eight. The three tournament wins for the Peacocks were the first in program history.
The ceremony will start at 6:45. The Peacocks host NJIT for the season opener with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
