JERSEY CITY, N.J. - A women's soccer player has been called up to her respective national team to train recently. Sophomore defender Leslie Pineda was training with the U20 Costa Rican National team over the Christmas break, gaining valuable experience that she will bring back with her for next season with Saint Peter's.
"I recently went back during the Winter break, it was a whole different team … It was really fun and a different experience," Pineda said. "The practices were a lot different than here and the girls' attitude was too. I thought it was a really good experience. A typical day would be coming in an hour before we were supposed to be there and getting ready, then going to lift before practice, and then practicing for two hours."
Pineda appeared in 16 games this season and started 15 of those contests. She totaled 1,315 minutes on the season and had a total of four shots during the campaign. The team finished with three MAAC wins on the season, the most since 2018.
