Alvarez Wins in Men’s Golf Match Play against Wagner

WEST ORANGE, N.J. – Freshman Pablo Alvarez came away with a victory in Saint Peter's men's golf's head-to-head showdown with Wagner on Tuesday at the Montclair Golf Club.

The Peacocks capped their final tune up before the MAAC Championships with a 5-1 loss in the team score to the Seahawks.

Alvarez defeated Wagner sophomore Matthew Schurin 2 and 1 to help Saint Peter's capture its point.

Senior Melvin Morales posted a close contest with Wagner junior Tyler Galantini, but the Seahawks' West Orange native came away with a 1 up victory. Sophomore Antonio Conde Ortega also battled through to the final hole before Wagner's Luke Bigelow birdied on the 18th to take the match.

The Peacocks will now head to Lake Buena Vista, Fla. for the 2022 MAAC Men's Golf Championships, which start Friday at 7:30 a.m. at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course.
