Men’s Golf Seniors Earn Top-20 Results on Opening Day of MAAC Championships

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Three Peacock seniors finished in the top 20 at the opening round of the 2022 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Golf Championships on Friday.

Melvin Morales and Jimmy Apostolico posted Saint Peter's top results of the day, finishing two-over 72 at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course. Caleb Rossi finished three-over 72 to stay within striking distance of the leaders, who sit at two-under 72 after the first day.

Top Performances

Apostolico played a consistent opening round, making par on 14 holes and hitting one birdie to finish the day shooting a 74 (+2) to put himself tied for 12th place.
Morales was one of just three players in the field to record an eagle, taking just three strokes on the Par 5 fourth hole. He also tacked on a birdie down the back nine to finish the day shooting a 74 (+2) to tie for 12th place.
Rossi shot four birdies, second-best among all golfers during the round, to finish tied for 18th place shooting a 75 (+3).
Sophomore Antonio Conde Ortega had three birdies during his round, finishing tied for 38th after shooting an 80 (+8).
Freshman Pablo Alvarez had a pair of birdies in the first four holes, finishing alongside Conde tied for 38th with an 80 (+8) round.
