JERSEY CITY, N.J. (June 30, 2022) - Coming off earning the #2 seed in the MAAC Tournament one season ago, Julian Richens and Saint Peter's University men's soccer team have unveiled their 2022 campaign complete with 17 matches.
The Peacocks will play seven non-conference contests to start the season followed by 10 matchups against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) competition in the regular season.
The season kicks off on Aug. 25 when SPU will play host to Virginia Military Institute (VMI) of the Southern Conference at Joseph J. Jaroschak Field where the Peacocks posted a 6-3 record last season.
Following the contest against VMI, Saint Peter's will travel to back-to-back road games starting with a trip to Stony Brook, N.Y., to take on America East opponent Stony Brook University on Aug. 29 and Bucknell University of the Patriot League in Lewisburg, Pa., Sept. 4.
The Peacocks will then play their second of only two home non-conference matches on Sept. 10 as they welcome NEC foe St. Francis-Brooklyn to Jersey City before a long road trip.
A string of six straight road games will follow as SPU will play away from home for nearly a month starting with a venture south to Philadelphia to face off against Temple University out of the American on Sept. 13.
The non-conference schedule closes out with trips to Baltimore, Md., to play the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC), their second America East opponent, (Sept. 17) and to Easton, Pa., to take on Lafayette College out of the Patriot (Sept. 20).
MAAC competition gets underway on Wednesday, Sept. 28 against reigning MAAC Tournament Champion Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., followed by a trip upstate to Niagara Univ., N.Y., to face off against Niagara University on Oct. 1.
The six-game road trip comes to a close Oct. 5 as they take on new MAAC member Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Md.
The Peacocks will make their triumphant return to Jaroschak Field Saturday, Oct. 8 against Canisius College before heading back on the road for a midweek matchup versus Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn., on Oct. 12.
One week later, SPU will welcome Siena College to Jersey City (Oct. 19) and will follow it up with a weekend trip to Hamden, Conn., for a contest against Quinnipiac University (Oct. 22).
The longest string of home games for the Peacocks will close out the regular season as they take on Manhattan College (Oct. 26), Rider University (Oct. 29) and Iona College (Nov. 2) all at Jaroschak Field as they ramp up for postseason play.
The MAAC Tournament will start with the first round games on Nov. 6 with the semifinals on Nov. 10 and the championship match Nov. 13. All MAAC Tournament matches will take place at campus sites with the higher seed hosting each contest.
Match times are all subject to change and will be finalized as the start of the season draws nearer.
