Women’s Soccer Sets 2022 Schedule; Set to Play 10 Home Games at Jaroschak Field

Peacocks look for continued growth in 2022

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (June 21, 2022) - The Saint Peter's University women's soccer team and head coach Julia Bazi are primed and ready for a strong year in 2022 and will have plenty of opportunities to showcase their skills at home as 10 home games at Joseph J. Jaroschak Field highlight a strong 2022 schedule.

The Peacocks will play a total of 18 contests in 2022, with the first eight coming in non-conference action and the final 10 against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) competition.

In total, SPU will play two schools each from the Northeast Conference (NEC), the America East Conference and the Colonial Athletic Conference (CAA) as well as one opponent each from both the Patriot League and the A-10 Conference.

Saint Peter's will open the season with a home contest on Thursday, Aug. 18 as they take on NEC foe Bryant University for the third time in program history and the first time since 2010.

After the opener, the Peacocks will head on the road for their longest road trip of the season as they will play three straight games away from home starting with a trip to Orono, Maine to face off against the University of Maine of the America East on Sunday, Aug. 21.

Long Island University, another NEC member, is next up as SPU will travel to Brookville, N.Y. on Aug. 25 to matchup with the Sharks before heading to Easton, Pa., to round out the road trip with a contest against Lafayette College of the Patriot League on Aug. 28.

The longest road stretch of the season is followed by the lengthiest string of home contests for the Peacocks as they will play their next four games at Jaroschak Field kicked off by a matchup against CAA opponent Hampton University on Aug. 31.

A few days later on Sept. 3, SPU will play host to A-10 opponent George Washington University followed by a Sept. 7th home matchup against former MAAC, now CAA foe Monmouth University.

The Peacocks will close the non-conference calendar with a home contest on Sept. 11 against New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) before diving into MAAC play.

SPU opens conference competition with back-to-back road games starting with a matchup in New Rochelle, N.Y., on Saturday, Sept 17 against Iona College. After that, the Peacocks head to Lawrenceville, N.J., to face off against Rider University on Sept. 24.

The first home MAAC contest for SPU will be a midweek matchup against Marist College on Wednesday, Sept. 28 that starts a string of three consecutive home contests.

As the calendar rolls into October, the Peacocks will host Niagara University on Oct. 1 and Mount Saint Mary's on Oct. 5 at Jaroschak Field.

SPU will then head upstate to Buffalo, N.Y. as they matchup against Canisius College Saturday, Oct. 8.

The regular season schedule closes out with four contests alternating between home and away starting with an Oct. 12 home game against Fairfield University.

After a Saturday off, the Peacocks will be back in action Wednesday, Oct. 19 when the head to Loudonville, N.Y., to take on Siena College in the penultimate road contest on the schedule.

The final home contest at Jaroschak Field will be Saturday, Oct. 22 against Quinnipiac University. They will then head to Riverdale, N.Y., to finsih the regular season with a road contest at Manhattan on Oct. 26.

The opening round of the 2022 MAAC Tournament will be played at campus sites Oct. 30 with the semifinals on Nov. 3 and the championship match on Nov. 6.

Match times are all subject to change and will be finalized as the start of the season draws nearer.
