Jersey City, N.J.- The Saint Peter's men's soccer team opens the 2023 season on the road against Liberty University on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m.
The Peacocks enter the season-opener with an experienced roster that includes seven seniors and graduate students. In 2022, Saint Peter's finished with a 3-10-4 record and are looking to improve for the 2023 season. The roster carried over 15 returning players from last season. The newcomers are a mix of transfers and freshmen.
Thursday evening's contest against the Liberty Flames will give the team an opportunity to play together for the first time in a match setting. The Peacocks will be facing a Liberty team that is also looking to improve in 2023. Last season, the Flames finished the 2022 campaign with a 3-6-6 overall record.
Like Saint Peter's, Liberty also has an experienced roster that features nine seniors. Liberty head coach Kelly Findley enters his fifth season with the program. Thursday's match will be the first ever meeting between Saint Peter's and Liberty. Since the 2019 season, the Peacocks are 2-1-1 in season openers. This will be Saint Peter's head coach

Following the season-opener, the Peacocks will travel to High Point, N.C., to face High Point University on Sunday, Aug. 27. Thursday night's game will be streamed live on ESPN Plus.
