Jersey City, N.J.- Former Saint Peter's University women's soccer defender
Fatou Doucoure is representing the Senegal women's national football team in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations qualification round.
Doucoure was born in Dakar, Senegal. She will have an opportunity to play for her home country in an important soccer tournament.
In preparation for the Cup of Nations, Senegal played a friendly match on Saturday and will play its first game of the tournament against Mozambique on Friday, Sept. 23. The match against Mozambique will be the first leg of a two-leg set versus Mozambique in the first round. The second leg will take place on Monday, Sept. 25. Senegal has an opportunity to qualify for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
From 2018 to 2022, Doucoure was a standout member of Saint Peter's women's soccer. Across five seasons, she appeared in a total of 64 games, making 57 starts for the Peacocks. As a defender, she made an impact on offense by scoring two goals and attempting 47 shots in five seasons. Doucoure will look to have a similar impact on the Senegalese national team.
