NEW YORK, NY. - The Saint Peter's Track & Field team resumed its indoor season Friday. The Peacocks competed at the TCNJ Lions Invitation at the 168th Street Armory.
The Peacocks won the women's 60m hurdles and the men's 500m events.
Saint Peter's had three top-10 finishers in the women's 60m hurdles. Saint Peter's Abigail Vital took first place with a time of 9.08. SPU junior Alexus Smith (9.58) placed fourth, and Mikell Dolo (9.65) finished the event in sixth.
Clardo Nestor won the men's 500m with a time of 1:05.34. SPU freshman Connor Ziolkowski followed in sixth place with a time of 1:06.58.
In the men's 60m race, Saint Peter's senior Delano Gooden finished the race in third. Gooden completed the race in 6.91. In the men 60M unseeded, Cristian Armstrong placed second at 7.21 followed by Omari Owens-Jones (7.22) in third.
SPU had two top-ten finishers in the men's 200m, Gooden ran the event in 22.56 (third) followed by Judeson Mirac who finished the event in 22.75 (sixth).
Hensley Jean Baptiste ran the men's 400m in 50.9 and placed third. SPU freshman Diego Ruiz had a top-10 finish in the men 800m. Ruiz completed the event in ninth with a time of 2:03.84.
In the women's 400m, SPU freshman Mikayla Surles completed the event in 13th at 1:03.51.
Oluwamumisorire Amori competed in the men's high jump (15th, 1.67m). In the men's long jump, Saint Peter's had two top-five finishers. Amari Campbell placed fourth with a time of 6.96 followed by Cristian Armstrong (5th, 6.82). Additionally, Armstrong placed fifth in the men's triple jump (13.89m).
SPU sophomore Ciara Brown finished fifth in the women's shot put event. Brown threw a distance of 11.62m.
