EDISON, N.J.- Saint Peter's University junior
Ashby Vining (Lexington, S.C.) was named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Second Team All-Conference at catcher as announced by the conference office. Vining is the Peacocks first all-conference selection since 2018 and the first position player to earn all-league honor since 2016.
Vining was heralded as the field general behind the plate as the primary catcher for the Peacocks this season. He boasted a .970 fielding percentage and threw out 18 base runners from behind the dish this season.
At the plate, Vining led Saint Peter's in nearly every major offensive category, including tying the single season program record with 10 homeruns. He finished the season with a .304 batting average, with 40 runs scored, 58 hits, 12 doubles, and 48 RBI, cracking 100 total bases for the Peacocks. Vining added three steals in the base paths and ranked eighth in the MAAC in RBI and tenth in homeruns.
In conference play, Vining was equally as successful, posting a .347 average with a .965 OPS. He posted six doubles and five homeruns with 22 RBI in conference games this season.
