Saint Peter’s Opens Indoor Season With 13 Podium Finishes, Three Event Wins at FDU

HACKENSACK, NJ–  The Saint Peter's track and field team kicked off its indoor season campaign with multiple top finishes, including a dominant showing in the men's 300m, where the Peacocks swept the top seven spots. Saint Peter's combined for 13 podium finishes, including three golds in the men's 500m, 300m, and the 4x4 relay.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Rookie Niles Thony made his collegiate debut in the long jump, narrowly missing the podium by .29m, taking fourth with a distance of 6.28m. Dylan Williams secured eighth out of 10 athletes with a mark of 5.86m in his event debut.

On the track, five Peacocks competed in the 60m, with three advancing to the finals. Thony narrowly missed the final, finishing seventh overall in the prelims (7.05), while Neo Clark-Tabb placed ninth out of 18 in 7.10.

In the finals, Felician's Devin Jones claimed gold with the only sub-7-second time of the event (6.96, PR). Williams finished second in 7.03, followed closely by Ameen Zubair in third (7.04), and Malique Jackson tied for fourth in 7.05.

Connor Ziolkowski secured the first gold of the night for Saint Peter's in the 500m, crossing the finish line half a second ahead of the field in 1:07.03. Solomon Dunham (5th, 1:12.61) and Adeiza Albert (7th, 1:12.93) also recorded top-ten finishes.

In the 1000m, the Peacocks earned two of the top three spots. Johan Aparicio ran 2:46.34, four seconds behind FDU's Ekuyami Conteh (2:42.93), with Christopher Hernandez finishing third in 2:50.24.

The 300m was total domination with Saint Peter's taking the top seven spots. Favour Owolabi secured gold in 35.18, followed by Ajani Peck-Wekunda (36.17),  Jackson (36.24), Brian Yeager (36.46), Michael Odins (36.78), Clark-Tabb (36.82), and Desrick Hemans (36.97). Michael Allison rounded out the event for SPU, placing 12th out of 19 in 37.89.

The 4x4 squad of Aparicio, Allison, Owolabi, and Odins stormed to first place, winning by seven seconds in 3:25.54. The SPU B squad (Clark-Tabb, Hemans, Ziolkowski, Peck-Wekunda) placed fourth in 3:33.24.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
In the long jump, Chloe Montgomery led the Peacocks with a fifth-place finish out of 18 athletes, landing 5.04m–just 0.06m off the podium in her collegiate debut. Amanda Hyatt also landed in the top 10 with a seventh-place mark of 4.81m. McKenzie Johnson (4.45m), Ana DeVries (4.45m), and Luisana Flores (3.70m) also represented the Peacocks.

In the shot put, all four Peacocks placed inside the top ten. Ciara Brown led the way with a bronze finish at 12.22m. Rookie Lourdes Lawson took fifth (11.54m), Alyana Meador placed seventh (10.19m), and Kennedy Vaughn took ninth (9.74m) in the 15-person event.

On the track, eight Peacocks competed in the 60m, with four reaching the final. Samyah Wilson finished 10th in the preliminaries (8.11), followed by Mercedes Cruz-Fletcher (8.23, 13th), Montgomery (8.37, 16th), and Dezoara Diaz (8.43, 18th). In the final, Karilynn Jimenez earned silver and a new personal best (7.86), with Shania McDuffie placing fourth (7.99), Shanelle Vilson fifth (8.02), and Angela Owusu-Ansah sixth (8.07).

Owusu-Ansah and Vilson went 2-3 in the 300m, with Owusu Ansah finishing in 43.97–less than a second behind FDU's Emmanuella Koroma. Vilson clocked 44.51 for third. Maya McKinley and Wilson tied for sixth in 45.19, and Diaz recorded a top-ten finish in 45.49. Adriana Rollins (46.89) and Cruz-Fletcher (47.57) rounded out the event for Saint Peter's.

The Peacocks gear up for their final meet of the semester, the Armory Collegiate Distance Carnival, Friday, December 5, at the 168th Street Armory in New York, NY. The first gun is set for 9:30 a.m.
