Berlin, Md.- Saint Peter's Golf tied for ninth place at the Battle at Rum Pointe this weekend.
The Peacocks finished in a three-way tie for ninth place with Manhattan University and Wagner College. Through the two rounds, Saint Peter's shot plus 21 to par. In terms of the total score, the Peacocks collected a 597 total score. In the opening round, the Peacocks scored 306 but managed to improve that score to 291 in the second and final round.
Graduate golfer
Antonio Conde Ortega shot plus four to par, which was good enough for a seven-way tie for 29
th place.
Jeffery Yong was in a tie for 36
th overall at the tournament. Yong shot 149 through two rounds.
Jack Hennelly snuck into the top 50 with a total score of 150.
Saint Peter's Golf Head Coach Jim Stefankiewicz spoke about the continued efforts from his team.
"We had a really strong effort this week from all of our guys. We continued the momentum from our second round at last week's tournament. We came out aggressive on day two knowing what we had to do and we got it done shooting a team score of 3 over par. Congrats to
Antonio Conde Ortega for being our top finisher this week, and also to freshman
Jack Hennelly for shooting our low round of the tournament, a 1 under par 71 on day two."
Shiv Manhas and
Pablo Alvarez also competed in the Battle at Rum Pointe. In competitions with at least 10 teams, this was tied for Saint Peter's best finish of the 2024-2025 season. The team made a vast improvement from the 2024 Battle at Rum Pointe when the Peacocks landed in 15
th place.
