JERSEY CITY, N.J. – After a standout performance in Saint Peter's scoreless draw at Rider on Wednesday night, freshman goalkeeper
Bergljot Kristinsdottir has been named the Jersey Mike's MAAC Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week.
Kristinsdottir tallied her third shutout of the season against the Broncs, finishing with seven saves -- including six in the first half -- to keep the Peacocks level on the road.
Through 10 starts, Kristinsdottir owns a 1.40 goals-against average and a .763 save percentage. She currently ranks fifth in the MAAC in goals-against average, total saves (45), and saves per game (4.50), while sitting tied for second in shutouts (3).
The recognition marks her first career MAAC weekly honors, and she becomes the first Saint Peter's player this season to earn both Defensive and Rookie of the Week in the same week.
Kristinsdottir and the Peacocks return to MAAC action on Wednesday, hosting Iona at Jaroschak Field.
