Track & Field Heads to Wagner College Invitational

STATEN ISLAND, NY– The Saint Peter's track and field programs return to action on Saturday, January 17, for the Wagner College Invitational, hosted by Wagner College, at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex

The Peacocks are coming off a strong showing at TCNJ's Lions Indoor Invitational, where the programs combined for five podium finishes.

Senior Cashieve Blair opened his season in record-breaking fashion, winning the 300m in 33.79 to shatter a 10-year-old program record and become the first Peacock to run a sub-34 in the event.

Ameen Zubair posted two personal bests in the 60m, clocking the only sub-7 time with a 6.96 in prelims before lowering it to 6.92 in the finals, finishing just .02 seconds behind first.

In the field, Amari Campbell led the men with a gold in the long jump, clearing 7.18m as the only competitor over seven meters. His performance earned him Jersey Mike's MAAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors and spots in both the 2026 NCAA and DI Indoor Top 100. 

On the women's side, senior Ciara Brown claimed Saint Peter's lone gold with a dominant shot put victory, winning by over 0.30 meters and posting a top mark of 11.49m. She also added a top-four finish in the weight throw (13.92m).

Adriana Rollins continued her strong start to the season, earning silver in the women's triple jump with a new personal best of 11.20m, marking her highest placement in the event to date.


ABOUT THE SEAHAWKS
Wagner's men's and women's track and field programs have competed in three meets so far this season.

At the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational, the women's team recorded 14 top-10 finishes, highlighted by bronze medals from Magui Calvo in the 3000m and Victoria Gontowicz in the triple jump. The men totaled 17 top-10 placements, including podium finishes in the 60m, 200m, 300m, 500m, 3000m, and triple jump.

The Seahawks followed with 13 top-10 finishes at the Seahawk Shootout, highlighted by gold medals in the men's pole vault and long jump (Jack Mason), a bronze in the men's 60m (Noah Grant), silver from the women's 4x4 relay, and a bronze in the mile by Ana Blanco Duran.

In their 2026 opener at the Spartan Invite, Wagner combined for 19 top-10 finishes. The men were led by first-place performances from Christopher Milillo (weight throw), Noah Grant (200m), Jack Mason (long jump), and the 4x2 relay, which set a new program record (1:27.96). The women were led by a silver from the 4x2 relay and a third-place finish in the mile by Blanco Duran.

The Seahawks have earned two NEC weekly honors this season, with Mason named Field Athlete of the Week (Dec. 16) and Grant earning Track Athlete of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors (Jan. 13). Wagner is led by head coach Marvin Azor, who is in his first season.

The Peacocks recorded 10 top-10 finishes, highlighted by a silver medal from Clardo Nestor ('24) in the men's 500m (1:04.17) and a bronze from Abigail Vital ('24) in the women's 60m hurdles (8.96).

Saint Peter's also saw multiple top-five finishes from Alexus Smith ('24) in the 60m hurdles (9.13), Michael Conover ('23) in the 800m (1:55.59), and Frankie Gonzalez in the shot put (14.86m).

During their rookie campaigns, both Brown and Campbell earned top-15 finishes. Brown placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 11.78m and 12th in the weight throw (11.97m), while Campbell finished eighth in the long jump with a then-personal-best mark of 6.66m.
