JERSEY CITY, N.J. - With
TJ Ward heading into his first season as head coach for the Saint Peter's University baseball program, the team is set to begin their season on a clean slate as the Peacocks play Georgetown on Feb. 20 at 3 p.m. ET
"I am looking forward to watching this group progress as the season goes on," Ward said. "I expect to compete in every game. Our culture and leadership will be vital in carrying us through the season,"
With new faces joining the team such as freshman
Allen Ramos,
Max Abrams,
Max McCluskey,
Ryan D'Ambrosio,
Jake Buonanno,
Max Doninger,
Luca Bruno and
Josh Bullock taking on their first season, and multiple transfers coming to the team.
"Guys have been battling all fall and winter, trying to prove themselves and earn something,"
Team captains
Luke Schwartz,
Kurt Thomas and
Logan Wenzel will play a pivotal role in the team's success this season.
Along with Ward, his assistant coaches, recruiting coordinator/assistant coach
Jeremy Duran (recruiting coordinator/assistant coach), Pitching coach
Alex Fishberg (pitching coach), and outfield coach
Tyler DeClusin (outfield/assistant coach), also take on their first season as assistant coaches.
"I think we have a well-rounded staff coming from different backgrounds." said Ward "These different experiences have helped how we practice, plan, recruit, and build this program. They have been workers from day 1 of being here, investing a lot into our student-athletes,"
The Peacocks look to improve from last season which ended with an overall record of 11-39 and with the MAAC preseason poll putting them at 13th place the team looks to prove the critics wrong this upcoming season.
