WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Saint Peter's track and field programs put together impressive performances at Monmouth's Home Opener at Kessler Stadium, collecting multiple top-five finishes, including two gold medals along with several silver and bronze finishes.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
The 4x100m squad of
Ameen Zubair, Niles Thony, Dylan Williams, and
Neo Clark-Tabb sprinted to silver, just a second behind Monmouth, with a time of 42.41.
Zubair and Thony secured top-ten placements in the 100m, with the sophomore finishing sixth (11.12) and the freshman ninth (11.17).
Saint Peter's dominated the 400m, claiming second through fifth.
Favour Owolabi led the charge with a silver finish in 48.63, a new personal best.
Brian Yeager took bronze in 49.06, followed by Clark-Tabb (49.06) and
Ajani Peck-Wekunda (49.68).
Cashieve Blair blazed to gold in the 200m, smashing the outdoor school record and becoming the first Peacock in program history to break the 21-second barrier with a time of 20.98.
The 400m hurdles was a close race, with
Connor Ziolkowski narrowly missing the podium by six hundredths of a second, crossing the finish line in 55.86.
Adeiza Albert finished behind in fifth with a time of 57.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
On day one of Monmouth's Home Opener,
Kennedy Vaughn and
Alia Moreira secured top-ten placements in the hammer throw and discus. Vaughn finished ninth in the hammer throw in 40.07m (131'6") and Moreira placed ninth in the discus with a throw of 34.29m.
Day two in the field,
Adriana Rollins placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 11.22m (36'9.75"), a new personal best that ranks second all-time in program history.
Lourdes Lawson finished fourth overall in the shot put, landing a mark of 12.75m (41'10"), just two and a half feet shy of third.
The 4x100m relay was a fast race, with the top five teams recording sub-50 times. The quartet of
Karilynn Jimenez, Samyah Wilson, Dezoara Diaz, and
Shanelle Vilson finished fifth in 49.43.
Jimenez blazed to her second first-place finish in the 100m this week, crossing the finish line in 12.53.
Samyah Wilson claimed 10th with a time of 13.01.]
