EDISON, NJ– After a record‑breaking performance at the Monmouth Home Opener over the weekend, senior sprinter
Cashieve Blair was named the Jersey Mike's MAAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Jamaican native opened his outdoor campaign with a blazing gold-medal performance. On Senior Day, Blair anchored the 4x400m relay squad to a first-place finish in 3:43.03. He kept the momentum rolling at Monmouth, winning the 200m in 20.98 seconds–smashing his own outdoor school record set during his freshman year and became the first Peacock in program history to break the 21-second barrier.
Blair's dominance has been recognized across the conference throughout his career, highlighted by a MAAC Indoor Championship record, 12 MAAC Championship medals (nine gold), and a podium finish at every conference championship he has competed in.
He was named MAAC Student-Athlete of the Week after capturing two gold medals at last year's indoor championships and riding a six-event winning streak entering the outdoor season. Blair also earned MAAC Track Rookie of the Meet honors in his first outdoor championship appearance.
This accolade marks Blair's first Jersey Mike's MAAC Track Athlete of the Week honor and the first outdoor track and field weekly award of the season for the Peacocks.
Blair and the Peacocks now turn their attention to the 2026 Outdoor Metropolitan Championships, set for Friday, April 3, at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island in New York.
The meet opens at 11 a.m. with the women's 3,000m steeplechase on the track and the men's hammer throw in the field.
