NEWARK, N.J- The Saint Peter's baseball team head to Union, New Jersey to face in-state opponent NJIT for a four game series starting on Thursday with a double header 2 p.m.and 5:30 p.m. EST at Alumni Field.
The Peacocks (0-7) and the Highlanders (3-5) have played each other a total of six times since 2023. The last time the two teams met was on April, 15th 2025 where it was a 0-9 loss for Saint Peter's. NJIT holds a 9-1 record in their last ten match-ups against SPU since 2018, but the Peacocks will look to change the narrative on Thursday.
SPU looks to bounce back from their 6-9 loss to George Washington on Sunday which continued their losing streak, While the Highlanders look to extend their streak with their 10-2 series win over Iona on Saturday.
Even with their current record, Saint Peter's has one of the top 10 hitters in the MAAC with
Alex Manent ranking sixth in hitting with a batting average of .389 and ranks first in slugging with a .833 average. Along with
Louis D'Alessio and
Bobby Lavely stepping up in the final game of the series against George Washington.
If the Peacocks want to mark their first win of the season Manent will need to continue to perform on Thursday.
