Cashieve Blair Earns MAAC Most Outstanding Performer Honors as Peacocks Collect Five Podium Finishes

Blair breaks two MAAC Championship records and two school records while capturing double gold at the Outdoor MAAC Championships.

EMITTSBURG, MD– The Saint Peter's track and field programs competed across the two-day 2026 MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Morgan Track, highlighted by a historic performance from senior sprinter Cashieve Blair.

Blair earned MAAC Men's Track Most Outstanding Performer honors after capturing two gold medals, breaking two MAAC Championship records, and setting two school records. The senior becomes the first Peacock in program history to win the award, earning his second career MAAC major honor after being named Rookie of the Meet in 2023.

The men's team totaled five podium finishes, placing eighth overall with 56 points, while the women finished ninth with eight points.

Mount St. Mary's University claimed the men's title with 183.5 points, while Quinnipiac University secured its third consecutive women's championship with 164.25 points.

DAY ONE RESULTS
The top eight athletes advanced to the finals, including the winner of each heat and the next four fastest times.

Freshman Mercedes Cruz-Fletcher was the lone qualifier on the women's side for Saint Peter's, clocking a 14.82 in the 100m hurdles.

On the men's side, the 400m saw Peacock duo Favour Owolabi and Cashieve Blair secure spots in the finals. Both Owolabi (48.59) and Blair (48.80) won their respective heats, earning the fourth- and fifth-fastest qualifying times.

Rookie Niles Thony punched his ticket to the 100m finals, winning his heat in 11.19 for the fifth-fastest qualifying time. Brian Yeager secured a spot in the 800m finals after winning his heat in a season-best time of 1:54.27, placing fourth overall in qualifying.

Blair rounded out the qualifiers for Saint Peter's in the 200m, winning his heat and posting the fastest qualifying time overall in 21.26.

Madison Petricevic led the women's field team with a top-eight finish in the javelin, placing eighth out of 18 competitors with a throw of 35.83m (117'06").

Amari Campbell delivered the highlight of the field events on day one, claiming the long jump title with the only leap to surpass the 24-foot mark, soaring to a season-best 7.38m (24'2.5"). Campbell secured both the indoor and outdoor MAAC long jump titles this season, becoming the first Peacock in program history to accomplish the feat.


DAY TWO RESULTS
The men's 4x100m quartet of Ameen Zubair, Niles Thony, Desrick Hemans Jr., and Neo Clark-Tabb sprinted to a fifth-place finish in a season-best time of 41.80. Mount St. Mary's won gold in a season-best 41.46, followed by Merrimack (41.61) and Iona (41.62).

Mercedes Cruz-Fletcher, competing in her first MAAC Outdoor Championship final in the 100m hurdles, clocked a 15.01 to place sixth overall. Sacred Heart went 1-2 with Sierra Thompson claiming gold in 13.99 and Magdalena Brogioli taking silver in 14.10, while Quinnipiac's Sydney Lavelle finished third in 14.33.

Cashieve Blair earned his first gold medal of the day in the 400m finals in record-breaking fashion, lowering his own school record and shattering an 11-year-old MAAC Championship record with a time of 45.85, finishing nearly a full second ahead of the field.

Favour Owolabi competed in his first Outdoor MAAC Championship final, crossing the finish line in a season-best 47.91, the second-fastest time in program history.

Niles Thony represented the Peacocks in the 100m finals, finishing seventh overall in 10.90. Marist's Amari Mathis sprinted to gold in a personal-best 10.29, a mark that landed him at No. 68 on AthleticNET's 2026 DI Outdoor Top 100 list.

Brian Yeager raced to silver in the 800m, clocking a season-best 1:51.49. Iona's Aidan Coles claimed gold in a personal-best 1:49.85, while Manhattan's Rasmus Jaeger rounded out the podium in 1:52.33.

Blair blazed to his second individual gold medal of the day in the 200m, breaking a 19-year-old MAAC Championship record while lowering his own school record for the third time this season with a time of 20.34.

His mark also landed him at No. 6 on AthleticNET's 2026 DI Outdoor Top 100 list.

The men's 4x400m relay team of Ajani Peck-Wekunda, Yeager, Clark-Tabb, and Owolabi closed the meet with a silver-medal finish, crossing the finish line just 0.22 seconds behind Mount St. Mary's in a season-best time of 3:13.33.

Lourdes Lawson paced the women's field team on day two with a fifth-place finish in the shot put, recording a season-best throw of 12.75m (41'10"). Quinnipiac's Gabrielle Appiah earned gold with a mark of 13.49m (44'03.25"), followed by Rider's Kendra Green (13.24m / 43'05.25") and Sacred Heart's Elena Chaplin (13.05m / 42'09.75").
