JERSEY CITY, N.J.- After a hard-fought battle against Villanova on Monday, the Peacocks look to bounce back and get their first win in their home opener versus VMI this Saturday, Aug. 29th at 3 p.m. E.T.
With
Sebastian Heredia-Randen posting ten saves in their last fixture and
Tiernan Garvey recording six shots, two on goal, the team will look to these two players to make a difference in the upcoming matchup.
ABOUT VMI-
In their past four meetings, the Peacocks hold a 2-0-2 record against VMI, with their first win coming in September 2019, where it was a dominant 5-0 offensive performance for the Peacocks with VMI having no answer to Saint Peter's counterattack.
The next two meetings would see SPU and VMI tying, where both teams would find the back of the net twice with a 2-2 result in 2022, with their next meeting having an opposite story where both teams showed a strong defensive showing ending in 0-0 in 2024.
With the most recent meeting on Sep 8th of last year, it was the Peacocks adding their second win against VMI, with former Peacocks
Gabe Rodriguez and
Tim Strele getting to the back of the net.
VMI would try to equalize with a goal in the 49th but ultimately were unable to erase the deficit due to Saint Peter's overwhelming defense, ending in a 2-1 victory for SPU.
The Peacocks look to do much of the same this upcoming weekend against the Keydets as they look to add a game to the win column.
