NEW HAVEN, C.T.- The Saint Peter's Peacocks will play their final non-conference match of the season this Wednesday, Sept. 9, against the University of New Haven Chargers at 6 p.m. ET at Kathy Zolad Stadium.
The Peacocks (1-4) are looking for a win before they enter conference play this Saturday against Merrimack College. Saint Peter's has had nearly a week off from game action, having had a bye this past weekend as other Metro Conference members began conference play.
HISTORY WITH THE NEW HAVEN CHARGERS:
This is the first match-up that Saint Peter's will play against New Haven, but the Peacocks are no strangers to North East Conference teams. They have already played LIU and Le Moyne this season, and have played FDU, Wagner, and Delaware State in the past.
ABOUT THE NEW HAVEN CHARGERS:
The University of New Haven Chargers (0-5-1) were promoted to Division 1 status last season. They previously competed in the Division 2 East Coast ECC Conference. Their first season in the NEC was tough, as they did not win a single match. The Chargers are still searching for their first win at the Division 1 level.
The Chargers have had a rocky start to their season. The Chargers dropped their last match 0-1 against Bryant at home. Their most positive result this season came from a 2-2 tie against Monroe University.
Head Coach Laura Duncan entered her 16th season with the Chargers. In 2022, Duncan became the all-time winningest coach in program history.
