Men’s Golf Concludes Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational with an Eighth-Place Finish; Winter Earns Top-10 Finish

HELLERTOWN, PA – Mike Winter earned his second top-10 finish of the season for the Saint Peter's men's golf team at the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational at Steel Club in Hellertown, PA. Behind Winter, the Peacocks finished the 20-team invitational in eighth place.
 
Team Notes

• The Peacocks finished the 6,655 yard, par 72 Steel Club course with a final card of 294-306=600 (+24), good for eighth place out of 20 teams.
• Of the MAAC schools in the field, the Peacocks only fell behind preseason favorite, Iona, who ended the two-day tournament with a 301-291=592 (+16).
• Besides Iona, the Peacocks topped Rider (601), Siena (618), Monmouth (625), Canisius (633), and Niagara (657).
• Robert Morris won the team title by overcoming an eight-stroke deficit to start the day and finish the invitational with a 298-287=585 (+9).

 
Individual Notes

• Winter led the Peacocks by shooting two over par, good enough for a ninth-place finish and a place in the field's top-10.
• Winter's final card was a 72-74=146 (+2).
• David Powers followed Winter with a final of 75-74= 149 (+5), placing him in a tie for 23rd.
• Melvin Morales shot a 75-76= 151 (+7), putting him in a tie for 33rd.
• Jeffrey Peters closed out the invitational with a 72-82= 154 (+10) and Jose Cardona ended his tournament by carding a 79-84= 163 (+19) to round out the field for Saint Peter's.
