AUSTIN, TX – Saint Peter's standout sophomore men's golfer,
Jeffrey Peters shot his best round in the final round at the NCAA Austin Regional at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas. Peters again improved on his score, shooting a regional personal-best, five-over par.
Regional Notes
- In the third and final round of the regional, Peters carded a five-over par (76); a four-stroke improvement from round two and 10 strokes better than his first-round total.
- Peters finished the three-round event in 69th place with a regional total of 86-80-76=242 (+29).
- The 2019 MAAC Champion and MVP improved his spot on the individual standings every round, improving from 73rd to 72nd, to 69th.
- On the front nine, Peters made par on five holes (first, third, fifth, seventh, and ninth), hit a birdie on the fourth, and hit bogeys on the second, sixth, and eighth.
- He ended the front nine with a birdie on the ninth to put him two-over par.
- On the back nine, he opened up with a birdie on the 10th, hit for par on the 11th, then hit a bogey and double-bogey on the 12th and 13th.
- Peters made par on the next four holes before ending his season with a bogey on the 18th.
Compiling the Accolades
- Peters concluded his sophomore season with a number of accolades added to his resume.
- He became just the third golfer in program history to win the MAAC Men's Golf Individual Championship and McLeod Trophy for the Most Outstanding Golfer (MVP).
- Peters earned All-MAAC honors for the second straight season making him the fifth Peacock to earn all-conference honors twice in his career.
- Following his title at MAACs, Peters was named as the Saint Peter's Co-Male Sophomore Athlete of the Year, the Saint Peter's May Student-Athlete of the Month, and the Pepsi Zero MAAC Male Student-Athlete of the Week.
