Track and Field Head to Yale for Final Tune-Up Before MAAC Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn.-- The Saint Peter's track and field programs prepare for their final regular-season tune-up before the MAAC Championships, traveling to New Haven, Connecticut, for Yale University's 19th annual Giegengack Invitational at Coxe Cage Saturday, February 14.

Field events begin at 8:30 a.m. with the women's shot put, while track action starts at 1 p.m. with the women's mile.

LAST TIME OUT
Seventeen Peacocks competed at the ECAC/IC4A Championships last weekend. Amari Campbell led the way in the long jump, improving by more than 0.12m from his Metropolitan Championships performance. His mark of 7.33m earned bronze and ranks second in program history.

Cashieve Blair captured the lone gold for the weekend in the 500m, cutting more than a second off the team's season-best and nearly a second from his personal best. His time ranks third in program history.

Kennedy Vaughn led the Peacocks in the weight throw, posting a mark of 12.99m to finish 13th overall.

Lourdes Lawson added another strong showing, posting a personal best of 12.92m in the weight throw to place 14th. On day two, the freshman broke the 13-meter barrier in the shot put, becoming just the second Peacock in program history to do so. She was the only rookie to qualify for the finals and finished fourth overall, earning MAAC Rookie of the Week honors. Her mark ranks second in the conference.
